WINDHOFF receives an order for MPV® VentuS®-NV grinding vehicle from Stadtwerke Augsburg Verkehrs-GmbH
Preventive rail maintenance in the Augsburg tram network
WINDHOFF Bahn und Anlagentechnik GmbH is pleased to report the latest order intake from the area of after-traffic: Stadtwerke Augsburg Verkehrs GmbH (SWA) has ordered a new grinding and maintenance vehicle of the type MPV® VentuS®-NV SF as part of the maintenance strategy for its tram network.
The vehicle with a track width of 1,000 mm (meter gauge) will be the second vehicle in this series in the meter gauge range and replaces the previously used WINDHOFF grinding vehicle SF40 (delivered in 1996).
Winter-proof on the road: sensor-controlled contact wire de-icing included
Key features of the order:
- Procurement of a new generation of grinding and maintenance vehicle for the SWA network.
- Track width: 1,000 mm (meter track).
- Design: MPV® VentuS®-NV SF with grinding bogie and additional winter function: A sensor-controlled contact wire de-icing system to ensure driving operations in winter conditions.
- Special network features at SWA: The minimum curve radius is only 15 m, gradients of up to 10.8% are possible in the network.
- Objective: To replace the SF40, which has been in use since 1996, with a modern vehicle - in the sense of a preventive maintenance strategy with slipping stones and high flexibility in use.
